We strengthen and change the lives of disadvantaged people in Cameroon
ABOUT US
SAIKA ELISABETH FOUNDATION
Saika Elisabeth Foundation (SELF) is a Cameroonian-German non-profit dedicated to supporting children and families in economic hardship in Cameroon. We envision equal access to resources for learning, growth, and success. Through direct action and self-help, we foster skills and opportunities for self-sufficiency and community development. Our work focuses on Education, Livelihood, Healthcare, Child Protection, and Women’s Empowerment.
WHAT WE DO
SELF removes barriers to growth and success for children and families. We ensure children are in school, empower disadvantaged youths and families with vital skills, improve community health, support women's self-reliance, and respond promptly to emergencies caused by crises, disability, and poverty.

EDUCATION PROGRAM
We promote inclusive, safe, and quality education for children, especially those at risk of dropping out or from low-income households.
SELF offers after-school literacy and numeracy classes, scholarships, educational supplies, infrastructure improvements, and awareness campaigns on the importance of education for marginalized groups.

LIVELIHOOD AND ECONOMIC-WELLBEING
SELF promotes vocational training and job readiness, providing essential skills for employment and entrepreneurship.

We offer training in tailoring, catering, computer skills and job readiness workshops. We provide business management and financial literacy training, as well as micro-loans and grants and conduct financial workshops for communities.

HEALTHCARE
Health education and awareness are vital for empowering communities with essential knowledge for better well-being.

SELF conducts workshops and campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, first aid, sexual and reproductive health, HIV, and drug addiction. We provide medical care, supplies, and support in health and conflict emergencies.

CHILD PROTECTION
Protecting children's rights and well-being is central to our initiatives, focusing on education, support, and emergency response.

SELF conducts campaigns to educate about children's rights and abuse prevention. We provide case management for at-risk children, offering shelter, healthcare, and family strengthening. We train caregivers and teachers on protection policies and give psychosocial support in emergencies.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Empowering women is central to our activities, focusing on skills training, health, and gender equality advocacy.

SELF offers workshops in vocational, financial literacy, and leadership skills, along with microloans and business support for economic independence. We educate on reproductive health, prevent gender-based violence (GBV) and provide legal assistance, counseling, and shelter.
Sanitary pads project
In Jakiri sub-division, northwest Cameroon, around 30,000 young women face challenges in menstrual health awareness and access to affordable sanitary pads, worsened by the ongoing Anglophone crisis, which has disrupted supplies. Traditional disposable pads are costly, slow to decompose, and contribute to waste issues.
The Revolutionizing Menstrual Health project aims to empower young women by teaching them to make reusable pads, improving access and affordability. The project also provides menstrual health education, promotes sustainable waste disposal, and seeks to end menstruation stigma, fostering self-sufficiency and environmental awareness among girls
